PBIS News

Within our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports) System, we classify behavioral issues as Major or Minor Office Referrals (ODR). A Major behavior may result in a detention, loss of privilege or a suspension. A Minor behavior may result in an infraction or loss of privilege. All referrals are recorded and data is reviewed to determine the behavioral needs of students and support that may be needed as a school and on an individual basis.

During the 2015-2016 school year, it was a District Wide goal for 70% of our students to earn 0-1 referrals; 25% of our students to earn 2-5 referrals and 5% of our students to earn 6 or more referrals. During the 2015-2016 school year, our data at Northeast reflected the following;
70% of our students earned 0-1 referrals
14% of our students earned 2-5 referrals
16% of students earned 6 or more referrals

For the 2016-2017 school year, the District Wide goal has increased to 80% of our students to earn 0-1 referrals; 15% of our students to earn 2-5 referrals and 5% of our students to earn 6 or more referrals. So far for the 2016-2017 school year, our data at Northeast reflects the following;
83% of our students earned 0-1 referrals
12% of our students earned 2-5 referrals
5% of students earned 6 or more referrals

Based on last year’s data, our PBIS Team recognized that more supports were needed to define and teach appropriate behaviors to our students. These supports were put into place for this school year and to date, our data shows that these supports are working.
