Principal's Message

"Devote yourself to your community around you & devote yourself to creating something that
gives you purpose and meaning."

~Mitch Albom

Dear Northeast Families,

I am thrilled to be serving as the new principal at Northeast School. It seems perfectly fitting to advance in this direction in my career here in District 124.  I taught at Southwest School for 20 years. I was the Assistant Principal at Northwest and Northeast Schools last year. I was the head girls’ volleyball coach at Evergreen Park High School for 19 years. My family and I reside in Evergreen Park and my husband grew up here. Needless to say, I am fully vested in this community, and especially strive to see the students here succeed.

My vision for Northeast School is to provide students with an educational experience that inspires and motivates them to be lifelong learners and caring contributors to the world around them. My goal is to provide a nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of each student, both academically and socially.  Families, teachers, support staff, community members, and administration all play a part in helping our students develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we can make a positive difference. A strong partnership between home and school fosters greater success for our children.

I know this school year things are different. Some students are learning from home while others are in the classroom. Teachers are learning to adjust to the new demands of remote and in-person teaching. The one thing that remains the same is that our staff and students are displaying an incredible amount of determination and flexibility. I see this every day as I walk the hallways and pop into classrooms. I just know we will all continue to do great things together.

I am excited for the opportunity to work with you and your child to provide a safe and productive learning environment. I am excited to meet everyone and get to really know our families here at Northeast. I encourage you to stop in or call me to share ideas, concerns, or questions. I wish your family, and especially your student, great success this school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Carrie Berry
